My sincere appreciation to the people of Cumberland County and a special thank-you to the voters in N.C. House District 43 for allowing me to serve you in the General Assembly.
I have made a sincere and diligent effort to effectively represent the residents of this county and I am proud of my record as a freshman in the house. Serving in the House is exciting and dynamic. Please know that I am humbled by the awesome challenges that we faced last session. The 2009 session was arguably the most difficult time we have faced.
House members put forth our best effort to manage your public money wisely and prudently. We knew revenue would fall short of projection. The General Government Committee realized cuts and adjustments were necessary and they would touch the most vulnerable. Our constitution mandates a balanced budget.
It was a difficult job, but representatives were able to reach a consensus and approve a budget. We held to our agreement, "Together, we can achieve good things with hard work." The people of Cumberland County and North Carolina deserve accolades for their patience and resilience during the session.
As I work to improve the quality of life for residents of this county and state, I ask your continued support as I seek re-election.
